After 12 Hours of flying, and going through immigration and trying to find our family I can finally say I am here in Bogota!
Yes I am here and having a very nice but very different Christmas.
I have not been here 24 hours yet but it has been an emotional journey so far.
Firstly the stress of getting everything packed and getting to the airport on time. Then saying goodbye to the family and getting here.
The flight was LONG.....but very enjoyable. I had never travelled so far on an Airplane in my life so I was terrified but I ended up loving it.
Each seat had their own touchscreen TV screen, with a remote control that can be used to play games and even as a phone although that was not in use. I am guessing that's for the first class people.
Once we arrived to Bogota, we had a nice family christmas dinner and then opened our presents. I got a nice outfit and some jewellery. I was very touched as I was not expecting anything.
We went to bed at about 3am Colombia time and luckily I haven't noticed the Jet lag yet. I think it is because I haven't looked at my watch once since I have arrived and I forgot what time it was in Spain and adjusted quick.
But this is day 1 and maybe it will hit me in a few days time.
Day 1 in Bogota has been nice. We woke up and for breakfast I ate some lovely exotic fruits. One felt hollow but once you opened it, it was full of a gooey juice and was very tastey. The fruit is Granadina. Then I tried another strange one. Which was green and tasted of Rhubarb in the middle.

It feels hollow but you open like an egg and eat the juice and seeds. Yummy!

For my first day I can say that Bogota is nice, not what I had expected although at the same time I didn't know what to expect. Some parts are more industrial and the roads are huge. We did walk a lot and then caught the bus. The buses are very different to the ones I am used to, and they seem to do very long journeys as you had passengers having their naps while waiting to arrive at their destination.
I haven't been here too long to judge or give a strong opinion but at the moment I can say that people that haven't travelled here should not be quick to judge and say this is a dangerous place.
Obviously Bogota has dangerous areas, but then I am from London and there are also a lot of dangerous places I wouldn't hang about in.
You do have a lot of people asking you for change on the street, but in no way have I felt unsafe.......
Once we had breakfast we went to Bogota centre to hand over clothes that we brought over for charity.
It was very emotional. We walked in the plaza and started to give clothes to people that were homeless or in need of something to keep them warm. It was such a nice feeling to be able to give to people that are in real need of some sort of help, it was very overwhelming and I wanted to be able to give more, but unfortunately I couldn't.
We then did a little bit of tourism which was nice, we met a famous homeless man that is a tourist guide and is popular, even all the guards would say hello to "popeye", his nickname for his voice which is almost identical to Popeye. It was nice to have such a cultured man explain such interesting things on this city but sad at the same time, as he is homeless and it would be nice to give more. You can even find him on Youtube.com
