Our two day adventure in Sasaima

The other day we were invited to another friend of the families Finca.... The finca is in a village called Sasaima which is about 1 hour and 30 minutes from Bogota. The house was lovely, full of fruit trees including, orange tree's, avocado tree's, Mandarin tree's, Banana tree's, Guanava and even coffee plants....It was amazing....

It was a nice break from the city and it was great to see the "real" Colombia, as Bogota is just like any city really. It reminds me of Spain a bit, maybe the language is a great help but these villages is what it is all about. Seeing the people of the villages, the parks, the shops and the bars, it is another World.

Fruit called Guanava, as you can see it is very big and very tasty. The inside can be eaten or made into a nice fruit Juice.

Andy looking all Yankee with Olivia....

The views from the house we stayed at in Sasaima.

The Garden looking like something from the Jungle Book.

Paco the Parrot, crazy. Can speak in spanish and gave us a huge fright in the morning. From 6.00 am he was screaming like a little child saying "MAMAAAAAAA.....MAMITAAAAA". We woke up looking for the poor child and couldn't find it.....the mystery was solved when Andy went up to him and he was offered cocoa "quieres Cacao"......

Having a rest...this is the life....

Nice BBQ, we all ate lamb with Guacamole, rice and Yuka (a bit like Yams)
A crazy Caterpillar. This is actually poisonous, if you touch it you would get a fever....
Me going all indigenous.....
Banana tree.

Breakfast before our trek into the wild....ok we went to the river. But was still an excursion to remember.....

........The Big breakfast included Arepas, Scrambled eggs with onion and tomatoe, Soup, Mango and Mandarin Juice!!! I was ready to EXPLODE!!!!

Guanava on the inside and out, comparing the size to Andy's hands....

The river where we went to Fish for sardines and went on a wicked trek....

Getting our Rods ready for some fishing. Ours was the basic Tom Sawyer style rods, a stick with fishing wire and bread, but we did succeed in catching fish....

Fishing away. I officially caught 3 but 2 fell back into the river when I tried to throw it over to the boys.....

Andy And Daniel fishing away.....Andy caught 3 fish in total and 1 came off the hook.

Andy and I helping eachother get back to the main rock before our nice trek....

Look at all the Sardines we caught! 27 in total!!

After our very long excursion we finally got to have a little swim here, I didn't though considering the water was rather cold....but I did get very wet while arriving to this location as some parts of the river were very deep and crossing it was the only way of coming out alive!

Preparation of the fish for a nice afternoon snack....

......and this is the result...yummy

Beautiful Turkey???
