Happy New Year!!! It is finally 2010.... And I hope everyone had a fantastic start to the new year!
I must say mine was brilliant. I really wasn't expecting to have such a great time considering New Year
is always overrated, but this year was very different. I was here in Bogota, with my Boyfriends family, and really
did not know what to expect.
We started our evening having dinner with the family and by midnight we got the grapes out like we do in Spain
and got the champagne out with all our gold in oir glasses hoping we get lots of luck and riches in the New Year.
We tried to eat the 12 grapes but it was impossible. The countdown is different and there was no time at all to munch on them,
plus the grapes like any other fruit here compared to Europe were huge, so by the time the countdown was over I had two grapes in my mouth
and tried to wish everyone a Happy New Year.
At around 01.00 we met up with some friends, we cheered, hugged and wished each other a Happy New Year then we headed towards a club called "Cha Cha".
The club is situated on the 48th floor of a building, we were on guestlist and then accompanied in a lift by security to get into the club. This is normal and
a brilliant idea as it makes everyone feel a lot safer. The same thing happens when leaving, you have security escorting you out of the building and into the car park if
you have your own vehicle. This is such a great idea, because it makes everyone feel very safe and secure and also gives the club a good name as they know nothing will happen to the
people that go clubbing there....
Bogota By Night from Cha Cha Club
The club isn't too big but has two balconies, in each balcony there are sofas and amazing views of Bogota. The city is massive, bigger than I had imagined.
The music scene is electro, which is surprising to me, may make me sound ignorant but I wasn't expecting the people to understand so much this music scene compared to other European Countries.
Before Cha Cha finished we decided to move to another club literally round the corner. The club is called "Casa 33" and cost us around 8,000 pesos to get in, (which is about 3 Euros).
I really loved this place, it was a lot more underground, with Drum and Bass which at points got pretty Hard core, so yet again we were all surprised on how the people here love this music, plus so hardcore!!!
Casa 33 is in a big house, with uv lights and great atmosphere. When we arrived we were very lucky to find a small area just for us, we got to put all our jackets on a chair and have this
mini unofficial VIP area for us. This made the night even better for me as I like to have my own space without being pushed all over the place.
So far I haven't felt unsafe and the people are extremely friendly, expecially to us knowing we are from London/ Barcelona so they want us to leave with
a great impression, and so far I am.....
It is nothing what people think, people in Europe assume it is very dangerous but really it isn't, obviously it depends where you go, if you go to a dodgy area then yes of course you may get robbed but if you don't go to these
places in London or Barcelona, why would you do it in Bogota???
I guess we are lucky as we know the right people and know where to go out so so far I have no complaints.
The club closed at 06.00 and we waited ourside for taxi's and there were loads of people. Outside Cha Cha there is a man that waves down the Taxi for you, it is very common that people help out in this way and all you need to do is give them
a small tip. Unfortunately we were not outside Cha Cha and did not have someone to hail us the cab, plus there was a lot of people, but lucky we didn't have to wait too long. We got a taxi, and headed home straight to bed.....
And to top off the wake up we made ourselves a fresh Bannana Milkshake....and today is just relax and reminising our New Year and hoping that the year continues on this positive note.
