UK equal on religion?

I know this may come across as a sore subject and I don't want people to perceive what I am saying as something offensive, racist or discriminating.
I am one of the first that looks for world peace and even if that isn't possible then lets have peace in our neighbourhoods.

I am not a practicing catholic, nor am I against any religion. I am currently finding myself and hoping to find a belief that suits me. But one thing I have noticed is how the UK wants to change the name of Christmas to “Winter Holiday”. WTF??

No I don’t agree with this at all. Although the UK has a multi ethnic culture it is still a protestant country and we cannot be asked to change our holidays to respect the other religions.

Many months ago I read an article on how Saint George should be made a bank holiday as it is the patron saint of England but they decided against it because it is racist and offensive to other religions.

This is total crap. In the UK we respect every single religion so why can’t ours be respected being protestant or catholic or whatever we want to be?

I have friends from different cultures and I find the UK has adapted to all of my friends but then what about the British themselves?

I used to work in a company where if you were Jewish you didn’t need to work the Friday night or Saturday as it was their Sabbath. Then in November my Hindu friends got holidays because of Divali. Now when it is Christmas which is really one day I couldn’t have it off because others had asked for this as a holiday even though it’s not even in their religion.

Like I said, I respect every religion and every belief as long as mine is respected too. Not long ago there was a big manifestation in the UK of Islamic culture that had disturbing signs. These people, at the manifestation were extremists but were still allowed to have these huge signs up with no arrests or anything close to that. I believe if it was a manifestation of English people saying the same remarks against these people they would all be arrested or publicly critised. I am not into politics as I don’t believe any politician is right but I think something should be done to make us Equal at least. Stop pushing away our culture because this is happening slowly.

The UK is being too light on different cultures. I insist I am not a racist and I respect everyone but I don’t think the UK should allow to be taken up the arse in things like CHRISTMAS or deciding on bank holidays without offending anyone because they do not believe in the church.

If someone has moved to the UK is because they are looking for something better, whether it is housing, work or even the culture (I am definitely sure it isn’t the weather that appeals to them). Everyone that comes is more or less respected so the government needs to set the example and respect the British, if they don’t respect us how are other cultures going to do the same?

In the end I feel that the UK is great for its multi ethnic society and if we all respected each others beliefs, including the government, then maybe there can be some sort of peace.
