TV Recommendation

If you study Media studies or enjoy a good critic and haven’t seen or heard of Charlie Brooker then I recommend you watch some of his shows.
I must say I am a big fan of what he does, the way he presents himself and each subject is great and very educational and I think we all should be made to watch this at some point. It will widen your knowledge in this world, even if you aren’t a student it is very interesting in learning how the world of TV and media really works.
He will criticize shows but with great understanding and with fine examples so it leaves you in the know.
Charlie Brooker is a British journalist, writer, comic, a TV Presenter and Critic and is also one of the creative directors of the comedy production company Zeppotron. He is famous for his style of humour which I love. He is Savage and profane and very pessimistic.
Most of his shows are ideal for people that are into media or are studying media studies, as it goes through every department and details of TV shows, series, news and games. Charlie Brooker has a long list of shows which I have thoroughly enjoyed but one of my favorites has to be “Newswipe” and “Screenwipe”.
He basically takes us behind the scenes with great facts on the news or the shows itself. In one episode of Screenwipe he explains how over time the TV shows treats us like dumb people and how they try and make TV simple for us, the viewers. They no longer put so many cultural shows for young people. Instead we are bombarded with TV that doesn’t benefit us at all.
There are so many different aspects he focuses on and is portrayed very well.
He also goes through the series we should watch and other programmes that are broadcast.
The shows he does are factual, great for learning and just a dam good watch. Another quick example is of Cillit Bang, the grease busting product used for cleaning. They explain how the adverts show experiments to rid of grease but really the experiment they are doing is really obvious if you understand Science and it is really a con what they are selling and “experimenting” as the two products they mix in that acidy liquid would happen with or without Cillit Bang. Like I said you have to just watch it to really understand it all.
There are still some shows I need to watch like the panel show he presents “You have been watching”.
But another show I must recommend is a five part zombie horror thriller called “Dead Set”. I don’t want to disclose too much but it is set in the Big Brother house and they have done it really well as they have had cameo roles from Davina McCall and all the original big brother contestants.

Gameswipe is also a show he recently presented. It is a one off episode on how computer games have advanced in the last 25 years. Even if you are like me and are not a huge computer game fan you will really enjoy this programme as you will see how we have modernised in technology in a big way and it explains the different developments and ideas for the future.

Seriously guys stop downloading all these episodes of Lost and Flash forward and take at least a weekend in chilling (especially now it is too cold to be on the streets) and watch it.
