Exploring Safranbolu - Karabuk

On Sunday, after an all nighter on the bus we finally arrived to Karabuk at 8.00 am.
We went to the city Safranbolou for breakfast and then arrived at the school where we would be teaching and living for the next three weeks. Lucky we were able to have a four hour sleep as we were all a mess from not sleeping all night.
We then woke up and had a welcome lunch in the school canteen and we then went to the old city of Sanfranbolu. Sanfranbolu is a UNESCO World Heritage site from 2004 and when you visit this place you can see why. The buildings look new and are all traditional. They look similar to chalets in the alps (haven't been there so I'm guessing).
The surroundings are amazing, it was almost like visiting Tuscany again. There is a lot of green areas and little streets with wonderful little shops to visit.

First we were taken to a friends hotel to have typical Turkish tea. As you can see from the pictures the hotel is in really good condition and has a beautiful garden to sit and enjoy your tea.

In the old part of the city there are many shops where they make turkish delight. We were invited in to see how they make it and got to take a lovely picture with the owner of the shop.

This man make lollypops from scratch. They looked so yummy. Will see how it is done next time I visit the city.

At school we have a human sized chess board!!
I love to play chess so my aim is to play as much as possible.

Turkish food is lush. Baclava is one of my favourite desserts.
A typical house from this city which is used to put stuff like cakes, this one in particular contained sugar cubes.
